(I have got JEE stream)
Now stream training has started and the first module is over. It is named HJSX (HTML/JavaScript/XML) and in this you have to make webpages using HTML, XML and JavaScript. Editing templates of my blog has given me enough experience to make this module seem very easy for me. But ya, I do find other people slog it out to understand the concepts. You have to do a small project for which you get one day. That’s good in a way as it postpones the test to Monday. Our project has just been evaluated and all four of us scored 29.5/30. And we have the highest from the surrounding groups. But others just have 1 or 1.5 marks lesser than us so it doesn’t make that big a difference.
And ya ya, DotNet training is hectic as hell. They had about 80 slides in a day and have no project so the test was on friday for them. Many people who had 5 CGPA throughout generic training failed or barely managed to pass. So just pray that you don’t get DotNET. I also asked some people from 14 june and 23 june batch who got .Net and they all said that it really is tough to score.
One minor good news is that they have not yet decided the new extended syllabus ( 4 months for IT / 6 months for non-IT ). So even for 15 September batch, the training is of 4 months for all. Only 6 people from 8th Sept and 12 people from 15th September have been able to pass the screening test. So they wont start a fasttrack for such a small number so all are in long cycle by default. And they didn’t even start a fasttrack for 25th august batch in which 67 people passed the screening test out of 367 who appeared. What I am trying to tell you is that CS-IT people better forget about fasttrack and non-CS-IT people rejoice as they wont have 6 months training now. But ya, they are very proactive and may come up with the new course any time. So don’t be too sure about this one.

You will be only able to score marks if you know the concepts well. Studying from previous papers wont help much. No matter how much questions you do but still new ones will keep popping up. And also, read the questions properly in all exams. Generally, there wont be anything complex about the question but you will miss some syntax which would be totally changing the meaning of the statement. And whats worse is that the option that you have calculated wrongly will surely be there among the options. So be careful about this.
You can prepare for compre will in the time that you get in easy modules like AOA, SDM-UID-IQS but really speaking, you will only be able to score as much as you knew on the day of the module test of a particular module. So better prepare for each and every module test properly and compre will become very easy for you. I didn’t realize that and thought I would study everything for the compre but that doesn’t work… Also, learn C inside out.. There is no escape from it. You HAVE to learn it properly. So be attentive in both the modules related to C i.e. Programming Fundamentals and Programming & Testing.. In generic training, RDBMS is of 7 days which is really long for the course that they teach. You will be able to study it comfortably. Only days 3,4,5 really matter in RDBMS.
And ya, UNIX will be very difficult to study in 3 days. There are sooo many commands that you will surely forget which one does what. Thank God, the test was on Monday for us and we got a weekend to study it properly. Otherwise in 3 days, you will really have to study like the last day b4 exam for every day of UNIX.

It has been hard to find time to post. Let me tell you all about my Compre Hands On and Theory.
First, you will have Hands On which was on Friday for us. There are 2 parts in hands on: C language and RDBMS. C language program has 30 marks and RDBMS has 20 marks. You don’t need to have the complete program functioning well to score. It is not that you will not be awarded anything if your program does not run well. There are marks for indentation, including files, declaring arrays etc etc.. So there are cases in which people score 26/30 without the program running.
In RDBMS, also you can score well as there are marks for creating tables and inserting values. So Hands On is scoring. But ya, I accidently kicked the CPU switch and lost about 45 min’s work which really made me go hasty. And haste made waste and I cud not do my C language program properly. So do save your work every now and then when you are coding.
In Theory, there are 50 questions to be answered in 75 mins. All are 1 mark questions. Most of the questions will be from RDBMS and C language. As these subjects have high weightage in terms of course time also. Both these subjects together take 16 working days out of 29 working days of generic training. So you HAVE to be good at these. I am better at RDBMS than C language. But some people find RDBMS difficult. So it depends. If you would have had prior exposure to C language then you will find it easier than RDBMS. But believe me, RDBMS is also easy. The questions asked were not difficult but tricky. You will feel that you knew it but you were fooled. After coming out of class and discussing with your friend, you will say, “Oh, stupid me. How did I make such a mistake??!!” So you would be knowing the concept well but not reading the question and options properly will make you lose marks. Even I too realized afterwards that many of my answers were wrong.
So for me both hands on and theory were just ok. I wish I just pass. I wont be surprised if I get re-compre. I will tell you how to avoid the mistakes that I made in my next post. Bye for now.
The UNIX test, as people say was not that difficult. It was just like any other test. I got 75% in UNIX. Abhishek Pal said that 92 out of 96 people failed (though he got 96%) in UNIX from his class but from our class only about 10% may have failed. So it depends on the difficulty level, i guess. Moreover we got a weekend to study UNIX properly. That too helped a lot.
The PLES interview was just a time pass as it was for less than 10 mins for each of us with only 1 interviewer taking the interview. They basically wanted to know how passionate we are about PLES. That question was common to all. Rest was asked from the favorite subject that we mentioned. Only 1-2 simple questions were asked to each of us. Like draw Otto cycle, Diesel Cycle, definition of endurance limit, what is FEM, normalizing etc. And 1-2 questions about our final year project. They will announce the results in a week.
And my compre hands on is on this friday and compre theory test on monday. Wish me luck.!!.. ;-)
Hi, everyone...
I got to know from the people who did their NSR here that the cost is now the same as at any POS. Its 340 Rs here also which was Rs 60 when the first batch joined (26th May). So you can do your NSR if the POS is in your city otherwise they are easy on that here. You have to submit your ITPIN in about a month or so.. And even that is not mandatory. They will tell you its compulsory and all in the induction program but "chalta hai"..
About the changes of training program, as is already well known, its now 4 months by default for CS-IT people and 6 months by default for non-CS-IT people.
There is no screening test now. People who completed their Campus Connect in college can give the screening test (the result of which makes no difference) and they will be eligible for a bonus of 5000 Rs if they pass. And this is not a new rule, it was already there. But ya, one friend of mine who passed the screening test and was in fasttrack of the 9th june batch, who is now posted at Chennai, is yet to receive the bonus 5000 Rs.
I will post the details about the course changes of the new training duration as soon as i come to know. Byee...
Hi, everyone...
It has been hard to find time these days to post. Let me quickly tell you what all has happened in these days.
1. There were 2 easy modules called AOA and SDM-UID-IQS. I got 81% in AOA and 96% in SDM-UID-IQS. And dont think i am very smart due to that because there are people who failed in PF in both test and retest and have scored 100% in both of these. These are the most scoring modules of generic.
2. There was second phase of ILI training which was "Personal Effectiveness". This would be a nice break from the technical training though i cant really say that you will enjoy that session. Its just the usual useless stuff like "What goal do you have?" "Ohhh .. You dont have any goal.. What do you live for then???"... Nothing to worry about and also no tests for these.
3. UNIX has started from today onwards and first day was not that hard but ya, i can see whats coming.. It is called to be the toughest module of generic so being sincere in classes for this module.. ;-)Today there was DJ night but i cudnt go as was too tired and just wanted to sleep.
